Improve Home Ambiance With The Right Curtains

When choosing home décor, homemakers often focus their attention on the colour of paintwork, the correct lighting fixtures, even the artwork on the walls. But it’s also important to choose the right curtains for home decorations because they can drastically improve home ambiance and make the atmosphere more inviting. In fact, they can make such a difference to the feel of a living space that they can be a great starting point for choosing the way your finished room will look.

* Choosing the right fabric

Lightweight or heavy, textured or plain, patterned or block colour – the choice of fabrics might seem overwhelming at first, and every detail contributes to the ambiance of a room. You may want thick curtains for bedrooms, and something lighter for your downstairs rooms. It’s important to think of each room as a completed piece before you begin and before you invest in furnishings. Ask for fabric samples to help you visualise what the final outcome will look like.

* Choosing the best colours

Small rooms benefit from paler colours which can help make them appear spacious. A larger room can afford to use a deeper range of colours. Match your preferences to the size and scope of the room you are renovating and take it from there. Remember, curtains can dominate a room with colour, or can blend effortlessly with the rest of the space so use them to dictate the preferred ambiance of the room.

*Working with different curtain types

They’re not just for covering up windows after all. One way to really add ambiance would be to invest in canopies for your bed. Simple swathes of fabric around a bed can add a feeling of intimacy, coziness or luxury, depending on the fabric and style of hanging. Don’t be afraid to experiment with ideas.

As you can see, there are no hard and fast rules for home décor, so instead of starting with the walls, why not start with the curtains. You should find the variety of available fabric types a great inspiration point for your finished room. Good luck!
