How To Run An Eco-Friendly Home

Many homes today are going green. If you are looking for ways to make your home more economically friendly, there are a number of things that you can do. Here are a few easy ways that you can turn your home green:

1. Changing your bulbs with those that are more energy efficient is the easiest way to help save the environment and it puts a bit of cash back into your pocket as well. These energy saving bulbs can help you to save hundreds on your electricity bill every year.

2. When you are loading your washing machine or dishwasher, make sure that have a full load before you run the cycle. When you wash only half a load you use more water and energy than you need to use. Running a full cycle does not take any more energy than running half a cycle.

3. Recycling is the best and least expensive way for you to make your home more eco-friendly. Make yourself familiar with recycling stations in your area and begin separating your rubbish before you haul it away.

4. Buying reusable shopping bags is a great way to save the environment as well. Most stores today offer their own versions of reusable bags. Purchase a few of these and use them whenever you shop as opposed to plastic bags that have to be thrown out.

5. Make sure that you turn out lights as you leave a room. If there is no-one in a room in your home, the lights should be turned off. This is another way that you can save money while you are helping to protect the environment. Anything that you can do to save energy will in turn help the environment so learn a few tricks for energy saving and incorporate them into your daily life.

6. Reusing items as opposed to buying new is a great way to cut down on rubbish. Buying or selling second hand items helps to keep these things out of landfills which in turn helps the environment. Look online at auction sites or visit garage sales when you are buying certain things like clothing, electronics and others. You will save money on your purchases by buying used items and help the environment at the same time.
