The hustle and bustle of the holidays has died down and things are starting to fall back into routine. For others, this means kids are off to school and they have more time to finish chores and to have a little quiet time.
This isn’t the case for me though as work is busier than ever. I do dream of having a little alone time with my feet up and my nose buried in a book. Unfortunately, the closest thing I can have to relaxation at home is when I can pick up my AKG studio headphones and hook it up to my MP3 player so I can listen to my tunes while I move around the house.
Thankfully, there are a lot of good tunes today. Some of them are actually modern versions of tunes from the past. I find that this bridges the gap between generations. Our children are actually listening to some of the same music that we grew up listening to.
There are also the recorded soundtracks of popular stage musicals that have been turned into movies. And of course, who could forget the classics remixed with pop hits. Who would have thought that Gene Kelly’s “Singing in the Rain” would sound so hip mashed up with Rihanna’s “Umbrella”? With music like these, you just can’t help but be in high spirits even when the kids become a handful and even when you are dead tired from work.
